Candice Wallace-Henry has dedicated her life to the empowerment and enhancement of individuals, groups and communities. She is a Consultant, Certified Mediator and Child Rights and Protection Advocate. She has a strong commitment to child and youth development, restorative justice, poverty alleviation, child rights and protection. Mrs. Wallace-Henry currently works as a Child Development Specialist in the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development developing policies, procedures, protocols, standards and programmes designed to enhance Child Development and Child Protection throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

At an early age she aimed at specialising in the field of Child Protection and becoming a Children's Attorney. She began her studies in law gaining her Bachelor of Laws from the University of London in 2002. While working in the Family Court of Trinidad and Tobago
(2003-2006) she learnt of the transformative nature of Alternative Dispute Resolution and adopted a restorative approach by pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Mediation Studies at the University of the West Indies in 2006 with a focus on the Juvenile Justice System. Following her passion, Mrs. Wallace-Henry completed her Masters in Children, Youth and International Development specialising in Child Protection and Participation at Brunel University, London in 2011 gaining a distinction after receiving a scholarship from the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.

Over the years Mrs. Wallace-Henry has conducted all types of mediations and has facilitated numerous lectures and workshops with children, youth, schools and organisations on conflict resolution, effective communication, anger management, violence prevention, parenting, child-parent relationships, life skills, child rights awareness and child protection throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

In 1998 she co-founded X-treme Dance Academy, a youth organisation which uses dance as a medium to empower at-risk children and youth. She developed the 'Blackout' project aimed at targeting teenage girls and empowering them through dance and other training to become a powerful medium to inspire other teenagers, by challenging gender biases and strengthening the girls' agency and self worth in bringing positive messages to youth and in particular other girls.

In 2011 she pioneered a project in South Africa in collaboration with Project Hope UK, London in which she conducted workshops and participatory sessions with community stakeholders including the South African Police and Social Workers, parents and children on Child Sexual Abuse, effective communication, family and community conflict resolution and strengthening Child Protection systems. Mrs. Wallace-Henry is also a lecturer at Roytec, UWI on Alternative Dispute Resolution in their certification course for ECCE teachers and Mediator on the Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago's Alternative Dispute Resolution Pilot Project.

Today she continues to conduct projects, lectures and workshops with innovative techniques using a rights based and sustainable approach to empowerment.
